Third generation in a family of coffee roasters. In the 1980s, he joined the family business, promoting the sale of single-origin coffees and transforming Cafés El Magnífico into the first roastery in Spain dedicated to this type of coffee. He was also the first to introduce premium coffees such as Jamaica Blue Mountain, Puerto Rico Yauco Selecto, and Hawaii Kona, as well as a carefully curated selection of exceptional coffees from outstanding farms in every coffee-producing country.
He has traveled to various coffee-growing regions—Puerto Rico, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Ethiopia, Panama, Brazil, El Salvador, Costa Rica, Colombia, and Honduras—to study coffee at its source, meet expert coffee growers on their plantations, and gain a deeper understanding of their work from the coffee tree to the industrial process.A founding member of the Forum Cultural del Café, a non-profit association dedicated to promoting coffee culture in Spain, he has served on several boards and twice as President of the organization.
Salvador Sans regularly participates as a speaker at courses, conferences, and international coffee forums. He has served as an international tasting judge for the prestigious Cup of Excellence competition in the following editions: Managua (Nicaragua) 2002, San Salvador (El Salvador) 2003 and 2013, San Pedro Sula (Honduras) 2004, Estelí (Nicaragua) 2009—the tenth anniversary of the competition in that country—and Pasto (Colombia).
He was also selected as a judge for the 100th Cup of Excellence competition in Viçosa (Brazil) and as an International Judge for the Best of Panama 2014.In 2019, we acquired Cafés La Portorriqueña, one of the oldest coffee roasteries in Barcelona.
In January 2023, opened the new roastery and warehouse in Cornellà, equipped with two Loring roasters—one 35kg and one 70kg. Their consistency, capacity, and operational efficiency allow us to look confidently toward the future.
He is also the owner of Sans & Sans, a high-end tea brand he founded in 1993.
